Textures is a technical metalcore band from the Netherlands, formed in 2001. They have released three albums to date. The band plays a complex metalcore style, closely linked with progressive metal (and bands like Meshuggah), featuring elements of death metal and thrash metal; they also incorporate melodic interludes into their songs. On their first release, Polars, they also experimented with ambient soundscapes. However, on their second release the ambience and riffs are fused together more closely, rather than set apart on Polars. Textures recently signed to Nuclear Blast after releasing 3 albums on Listenable Records. The band recently played their first ever show in India, co-headlining the Deccan Rock Festival in Bangalore on 5th December 2009 along with Amon Amarth.
After 6 years, singer/frontman Eric Kalsbeek announced his departure from the band. Citing the lack of personal time and ability to continue with the band, he has decided "take a few steps back." In March 2010, Daniel de Jongh joined the band as a replacement. Due to the singer change, the follow-up to their 2008 release "Silhouettes" has been postponed to early 2011
