Biography

Luke Kelly is an Irish folk music legend and national hero. As lead singer of The Dubliners during the 60’s, 70’s and until his tragic death in 1984 Luke toured the world and had massive success with the band and their plethora of instantly recognisable hits like The Rocky Road To Dublin, Whiskey In The Jar, The Black Velvet Band and countless others. Luke sang with authority, charm and technical skill, drawing inspiration from folk revival luminaries such as Ewan MacColl and in turn inspiring many thousands of musicians in the years since his prolific career came to an end.

Treasured in Ireland as the ultimate working class hero, Luke’s legend continues highlighted by the success of 2004’s The Best of Luke Kelly selling over 100,000 copies in Ireland to date.
